Testimonial

“This was a fantastic few days away with like-minded creatives in a fabulously photogenic location.  Charlie was a great guide who had planned everything out to the smallest detail. Although the weather didn’t always cooperate, we never struggled for something to point our cameras towards.  However, the stars of the tour were not the lines of colourful tulips, or the photogenic windmills, or the delightful meals, or refreshing coffee breaks, or pretty canals and wonderful architecture, but instead the three other people on the tour.  Everyone shared, everyone laughed, everyone enjoyed and everyone left as friends.” – Ed Burrows

A close-up of a red tulip with white edges, covered in dewdrops, stands out sharply against a blurred background of similar tulips. The flower appears fresh and vibrant in soft, natural light, with green stems and leaves partially visible.

The Peak District is unquestionably one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. It’s more rugged than some of the other national parks, but that just adds to its intrigue. During late summer, the Peak District becomes even more beautiful with the blooming of heather across swathes of the heathland and edges. The vibrant purple and pinks of the heather provide the perfect foreground to the millstones and tors dotted around the landscape. However, sweeping vistas are not all the Peak District has to offer. There are plenty of woodland areas, which are full of intriguing, twisted oaks and photogenic silver birches. Our tour will provide you with ample opportunities to photograph many different environments and compositions in the Peaks.

Peak District Photography Tour – Heather in Bloom
Our tour will be led by two experienced landscape photographers, who will guide and support your exploration of the Peak District. Both Verity and Charlotte love the landscapes you will be photographing, and you can benefit from the range of experience and skills that both have to offer. While Verity loves timeless, beautifully crafted images embracing the light, colours and locations, Charlotte loves to explore using creative techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement and Multiple Exposures, bringing the feeling of movement to her images and tutoring. Whatever your preference for your image-making is, you will be encouraged to explore all possibilities.

The Camargue, situated on the coast of France between Montpellier and Marseille, is an area of salt marshes. Famous for its white horses and pink flamingos, this photo tour offers opportunities to capture both these wonderful animal experiences and the unique pink salt flats that the area is famous for.

Provence is probably best known for its lavender fields. But visit at a cooler time of the year, away from the main tourist season, and you will have the chance to explore this beautiful area of France, which played an important part in the history of art, namely where Vincent Van Gogh spent his final years creating beautiful masterpieces.

Provence is a treat for photographers, and on this tour, you will have the opportunity to explore a variety of possibilities with your camera. If you enjoy the work of Van Gogh, you will be in for a treat. We will visit many of the recognisable locations in his paintings. Charlotte loves exploring creative possibilities with their photography and will encourage you to experiment with these, enabling you to recreate some of their masterpieces with your own interpretation.

Both Arles and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence boast some of the most beautiful old-fashioned French architecture. The landscape surrounding these locations will serve as further creative inspiration. In addition, we will be visiting Roussillon, famous for its ochre pigment, which in the 18th Century was mined and exported worldwide from this relatively unknown location. On the list of France’s most beautiful villages, we will explore both the rugged quarries and the village.

To complete the tour, we will be exploring some of the picturesque villages and landscapes around Roussillon.

This tour offers a diverse range of photographic opportunities, from wild horses and birds to unique landscapes, picturesque villages, iconic masterpiece locations, and modern architecture. During this day tours, we will base ourselves at three different locations. An early morning and a late evening will be necessary to enjoy the opportunities of sunrise and sunset whilst in the Camargue.

The Netherlands in autumn is a canvas of breathtaking beauty and offers striking photographic opportunities of colour and contrast. The last guests of this tour were amazed by the diversity of woodland settings and colours and beauty on offer to photograph. Straight lines of trees with overhanging reflections and gnarled trunks of the ‘dancing trees’ will leave you surprised and amazed at the landscape of the Netherlands – it’s not all cheese, clogs and windmills – though we can guarantee you will taste the amazing Dutch apple pie!

This tour has been planned at the optimal time for autumn colour in The Netherlands, so we hope that the beautiful colours will amaze and offer wonderful photographic opportunities. So many unique woodland photographic opportunities are on offer during the tour that you are guaranteed to return home with a diverse portfolio of images. The locations of course are all hand-picked by Charlotte for their unique nature and in nearly all cases their ‘off the beaten tourist track’ nature. Speulderbos is included in the tour however, which draws photographers from all over the word in the autumn – but fear not it’s a big woodland there will be plenty of space for everyone!

This tour not only offers wonderful locations, but also having Charlotte on hand – you are guaranteed the opportunity to explore various style of photography. Charlotte is passionate about her ICM photography, multiple exposure work and landscape photography.

Two afternoons back at the hotel have been included on this tour. One for critique and feedback and discussion on images and from early in the tour, and second to work on curating your images towards a monograph (30-40 image collection) that can be later printed or shared as an eBook and a slideshow. Charlotte hopes this will develop the overall experience of this tour to include not only photography, but a deeper level of learning and a tangible way to share your images after the tour if you wish to do so.

Testimonial

“A few weeks ago a group of 5 friends went to Holland to participate in a five-day, customized photography workshop organized by Charlotte Bellamy. Some of us had already done online workshops with Charlie and were familiar with her ICM techniques so we were very excited about putting what we had learned into action. The trip was a bonanza of tulips, windmills, canals, reflections and small, delightful villages. Charlie arranged everything in advance including a pickup from the Amsterdam airport hotel where we stayed the night of our arrival.

The trip was a joy from beginning to end. We travelled comfortably in a minivan, with Charlie a very careful and capable driver. The hotels she chose were comfortable and well situated so we didn’t have to do too much travelling each day. Charlie was on hand all the time to give suggestions, help and encouragement with the photography. We never felt for a moment that we were neglected. As we had all travelled together on other photo trips, we agreed that this was the very best learning and helpful experience we had ever had from a group leader.

On our final day Charlie came with us to Amsterdam and we spent the afternoon exploring areas that Charlie particularly likes, enabling us to get a feel of the city. It was sad to say goodbye after such an amazing experience with such a giving, friendly and supportive photographer. We felt that in the five days we spent together, we had become friends. We recommend most heartily a trip like this with a wonderful teacher. Thank you, Charlie for making our visit to Holland so memorable.“
