INSPIRE, EDUCATE, ENCOURAGE & support

Every year, I offer a number of In-Person Training Days and Workshops in The Netherlands and in the UK.

I love teaching, sharing my knowledge with others and seeing their development over the course of a day or a few sessions. Although it is over ten years since I took my first ever photographic training course, that course is still fresh in my mind, and I look back with fond memories of my enthusiastic and well-informed tutor and aspire to offer that experience to others.

My training days are kept to small groups of no more than six. They are held at locations which elevate learning of specific techniques to ensure the best learning experience possible.

As a guide of possible locations:

In the Netherlands:

  • Sonsbeek Park in Arnhem offers waterfalls, woodlands and flower gardens.
  • The Posbank and park Hoge Veluwe offers trees, paths and nature.
  • Appeltern Gardens offers a wealth of textures in nature together with architectural garden elements.**
  • Keukenhof offers every imaginable colour, texture and shape of flowers.**
  • Other locations are available.

** (For the Appeltern and Keukenhof locations, an entry cost is also required).

In the United Kingdom:

Workshops can be organised in any location, depending on demand.  Previous workshops have been held in Suffolk, Gloucestershire, Nottinghamshire, and various locations in Scotland.

Look Beyond the Normal to see the Incredible

– slow down and see

____

LOCATION: Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire

Dates:  6th November 2026

Group Size: Maximum of 6 people

Price: £225 per person

A photography workshop devoted to slowing down and exploring the techniques of Intentional Camera Movement and multiple exposure photography.

Explore the beautiful woodland at Westonbirt, and learn how to create images that represent your own personal experience.

This workshop day will be tailored towards ‘seeing’ beyond what is immediately obvious in front of us and interpreting it individually using the camera. It is not a technical workshop. It will include mindfulness exercises and forest bathing techniques to immerse individuals into the surroundings. I will then set small challenges throughout the day, introduced by short tutorials, followed by 1:1 contact and help for each participant, to develop the skills of Intentional Camera Movement and Multiple Exposure.

If you are new to either ICM or Multiple exposure, this is a great opportunity to dip your toe in the water of these techniques. If you have more experience, I will encourage you to explore the possibilities this wonderful location offers.

The intention of the day is to encourage participants not only to enjoy Westonbirt but also to develop looking and exploration skills, and to build the confidence to respond to any environment they photograph, in a way that they enjoy and find personally fulfilling.

Please note that this is not a purely ICM or multiple-exposure workshop. I do welcome all levels of knowledge, but if you are completely new to either of these techniques, please let me know when you book, so that I can send you links to a couple of videos to help you build your knowledge before the event.

What is included – Workshop includes entry to Westonbirt. We will break for lunch at the on-site café – this is not included in the price. There will be a handout with the exercises from the day.

Seeing the Wood

– for the trees

____

LOCATION:  Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire

Dates:  7th November 2026

Time:  09:30 – 16:00

Group Size: Maximum of 6 people

Price:  £225 per person

A photography workshop to explore woodland photography; learn how to compose compelling and creative images at this colourful time of year.

Woodlands can be chaotic places to photograph – this workshop will arm you with a set of tools you can use to develop your woodland photography

This workshop is aimed at participants who would like to understand how to explore and interpret woodlands with their cameras. I love photographing woodlands in a way that creates images that show a personal interpretation and interaction with trees.  I will create a day that flows, with structured exercises such as looking for compositions, exploring balance in images, choosing the depth of field to match the story you want to tell, and exploring the use of shutter speed, amongst others. There will be an element of mindfulness that runs throughout the day, encouraging participants to become attuned to what they are responding to on a personal level.

All levels of photographer are welcome on this workshop. However, it will be assumed that you know your way around your camera, and understand the concepts of shutter speed and depth of field. If you are unsure of your skill level regarding these recommendations, please contact me; I’d be happy to discuss.

Workshop includes entry to Westonbirt. We will break for lunch at the on-site café – this is not included in the price.

In 2024 I published a book ‘If the woods whispered would you hear them’ – a personal documentation of my journey exploring woodlands with my camera. If you would like a copy, please use this link.

A Private Workshop is a great option if you would like me to join you on-site. Together, I can help you develop new skills, build experience, or support you in achieving whatever outcomes you want. I love teaching ICM, multiple exposures, and developing photography techniques. I’d be delighted to join you at a location or organise an experience you have always wanted to capture on camera.

In the spring, I can guide you out to the tulip fields if you wish. For the rest of the year, I can recommend locations for ICM-specific skill development and multiple exposures. Or suggest unique landscapes and city locations to explore. I can also organise equine shoot experiences.

I can also be your Guide for the day, and I am happy to show you the ‘off the beaten track’ locations that I love. But I will be guided by you on how long you would like to linger at any one location. Being in a small car makes it easier to stop for photographic opportunities, especially when you’re not with a big group. If you are a pro looking for a guide to unique locations, I can offer you this. However, if you would like me to help or teach you any technical aspects of Landscape or Creative Photography, I am also happy to do so.
